The very attractive model-turned -actress Sushma Reddy caught film-maker
Priyadarshan’s eye long before her more famous star sibling Sameera Reddy did.
Sushma worked with the director in his Chup Chup Ke a couple of years ago. When
Sameera bagged De Dana Dan with Priyan, she asked her sister for tips on how to
break the ice with the director. Sources say Sam was excited and nervous before
flying to Singapore. It was only after meeting him twice or thrice with
Sushma, did her nerves
settle down. “My sister was ga-ga after working with him in Chup Chup Ke. So,
when I was given an opportunity to act opposite Sunil Shetty, I jumped at it!
Also, as it was a Priyan film, I was overwhelmed,” says the leggy lass, who
plays a rich girl who bullies her boyfriend on screen.
Amitabh Bachchan is playing a character diagnosed with Progeria in his
forthcoming Paa. Progeria — also known as Hutchinson–Gilford progeria syndrome —
is an extremely rare genetic condition wherein symptoms resembling aspects of
ageing are manifested at an early age. In R Balki’s Paa, Bachchan plays Auro — a
13-year-old who actually looks 25 odd years older than himself because he has
Progeria. The excitement around this film is palpable. Though the Bollywood
legend is underplaying the kind of reviews he is generating from those who have
seen rushes of the film, Paa will be pathbreaking as far as the Indian film
industry goes, say trade experts.
Priyamani will soon be paired opposite actor Ganesh in the Kannada
remake of the Tamil hit, Kushi, which had Vijay and Jyotika in the lead. The
untitled project will be directed by Mahesh of Mussanje Maathu fame and produced
by Chandrashekar. “I’ve had several opportunities to star opposite Ganesh, but
things weren’t working out. But now, it’s finally happening,” says the actress,
adding that Jyotika’s character
in the original
was what prompted her to
accept the role. The Paruthiveeran girl may have gained entry to B-town with
Raavan, but Priya says she won’t chase roles in Bollywood films. “I’ll know
where I stand in Bollywood after Raavan’s release. If it works out, fine.

At last, Jyotika’s first Malayalam film, Seetha Kalyanam, which started in 2003,
is releasing today (November 6) in Kerala, after a dozen postponements over the
years! The film, which was shot in two schedules spread over three years, was
delayed due to the producer’s financial problems. Seetha
Kalyanam is directed by TK Rajeev Kumar and has Jayaram playing Jo’s hero.
Geethu Mohandas, Indrajith, Jagadeesh and Manorama form the supporting
