AWednesday director Neeraj Pandey has signed on Abhishek Bachchan for his film, Special Chabbis, based on the notorious 1987 heist at the Tribhovandas Bhimji Zaveri jewellery store in Mumbai. Abhishek will play the man who booked a room in a posh Mumbai hotel as Mohan Singh and proceeded to commit the most daring daylight robbery in the city. Singh recruited 26 conmen, who posed as income tax officers, and raided the Opera House branch of the jewellery store. Neeraj confirmed, “I can’t deny that Abhishek is on board, but I want to get some other key members of the cast in place before I make a formal announcement.”
Shooting for Prakash Jha’s Rajneeti in Bhopal took a toll on Manoj Bajpayee’s weight as he couldn’t keep himself from gorging on chicken biriyani and mutton dishes every other day. “Too much indulgence in food prevailed during the shoot. Though I sometimes exercise, I wondered about the restlessness of my tongue. In Bhopal, we are treated with chicken biryani or a mutton dish every other day,” Manoj posted on his blog. “The end of a day’s lunching is immediately followed by planning the next day’s menu. It seems that I’m failingly trying to keep my weight in control. After almost two and a half years of quitting smoking, I’ve been able to enjoy the real taste of food. It wasn’t so when I was a smoker,” he added.
Priyadarsan’s new comedy Khatta Meetha starring Akshay Kumar and Kollywood siren Trisha has been altered to accommodate newspaper headlines. The film is now based on the mysterious 2009 murder of Bihar PWD engineer Yogendra Pandey who was allegedly killed by the crime cartel controlling the road construction business in the state. His body was found on June 18, 2009. Akshay Kumar plays the murdered engineer’s colleague who helps to bring the culprits to book. Priyan says, “My film has now become the story of Bihar’s road mafia.
